Each week during the season (regular and post), there will be a fan-generated contest to tab weekly winners. Each winner receives a letter and award patch for their varsity jacket.
How does it work? Nominees are selected from statistics submitted on MaxPreps. Coaches who do not have current access may request their free account here. Weekly finalists are released on MaxPreps every Tuesday and voting is conducted in a special poll. Voting ceases at noon on Mondays. The winners are announced the next day along with the next week's nominees.
Participants may vote as many times as they want. It's a competition.

Week 1 Pennsylvania High School Athlete of the Week Nominees
* Tyler Albright, Keystone (Knox) FootballSenior had three interceptions, three tackles and a TFL in a 33-16 win over Couderpsort. Also carried the ball six times for 115 yards and a TD and caught two passes for 34 yards and a TD.
* Elle Smith, Clearfield Girls SoccerSenior had seven goals and two assists in a 10-1 win over Karns City and two goals and an assist in a 3-1 win over Indiana.
* Aaron Crossley, Wyoming Area (Exeter) FootballJunior carried the ball 25 times for 352 yards and four TDs and completed both his pass attempts for 21 yards and a TD in a 48-28 win over Tunkhannock. Also registered six tackles, a sack and a caused fumble.
* Cam Wagner, Redbank Valley (New Bethlehem) FootballSenior completed 8-of-9 passes for 228 yards and five TDs and carried the ball twice for 34 yards and a TD in a 53-8 win over Smethport.
* Owen Winter, Southern Huntingdon County (Three Springs) FootballSenior had 362 all-purpose yards, caught 11 passes for 323 yards and three TDs and had eight tackles in a 40-33 loss to Northern Bedford County.
* Cadin Olsen, Armstrong (Kittanning) FootballSenior completed 12-of-17 passes for 280 yards and five TDs and also ran for a 37-yard TD in a 42-7 win over Valley.
* Jalen Harris , Chester FootballFreshman completed 13-of-15 passes for 311 yards and seven TDs in a 60- win over Central (Philadelphia).
* Bryce Lopinto, Northern Lehigh (Slatington) Boys SoccerSenior scored four goals in a season-opening 4-2 win over Notre Dame.
