Fans got a thrill when Javari Gissendanner and Anthony Carter connected against Dothan. The longest such play in 5A Region 2 this season, the connection resulted in 73 yards.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Russell beat Talladega 58-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Wildcats.
Bryant Horn threw for 119 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Carter was the best wideout in the league this week as Carroll lost to the Tigers. Carter tallied 2 receptions for 86 yards.
Russell's Horn and Lajarret Ford led 5A Region 2 in both passing and receiving yards. Horn has thrown for 767 yards this season, while Ford, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 20 catches for 272 yards. Russell County's Joshua Johnson leads the league in rushing yards with 594.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Danny Horn's team's Ford goes up against the Warriors' Dontavious Hill.
Next week's game between the Wildcats and Russell County will feature an aerial matchup as Horn tests his arm against Hill's defensive ability.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Russell takes on Desmond Mccoy's team. As it stands, the Wildcats are in first, while the Warriors are in third.
There should be lots of points scored when Russell and Russell County face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Wildcats comes in having scored 299 this season, while the Warriors have scored 97. Russell scored 58 points last week as it defeated the Tigers.
The Wildcats took down Talladega 58-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Horn ran for 35 yards in the win.
