The Lake Travis Cavaliers will square off against the Dripping Springs Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Lake Travis and Del Valle had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Cavaliers came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 5-2 on Friday. The game was the first time the Cavaliers have beaten the Cardinals on their field since April 12, 2022.
Julianna Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 14 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Madison Pinzon, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in February. Haley Whitefield was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Dripping Springs sidestepped Bowie for a 2-1 win.
Tatum Green was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Green was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lorelei Gamble was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
Dripping Springs' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Travis, their victory bumped their record up to 15-8-1.
Dripping Springs' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Lake Travis has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Dripping Springs, though, as they've been averaging only 3.3 strikeouts. Will Lake Travis keep running through batters, or will the Tigers buck the trend?
