The Hesston Swathers came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 54-35 win over Hillsboro. Given Hesston's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Trojans are ranked 130th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Reed Friesen was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Fry, who scored 11 points along with five assists and four steals.
Hesston has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. As for Hillsboro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.
Hesston will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Dragons at 7:30 p.m. Halstead is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Hillsboro, they will head out on the road to challenge the Indians on Tuesday.
