Basketball Game Preview: Great Plains Lutheran Panthers vs. Britton-Hecla Braves

Great Plains Lutheran has gone 3-0 against Britton-Hecla recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Great Plains Lutheran Panthers will challenge the Britton-Hecla Braves at 6:30 p.m. Great Plains Lutheran knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Britton-Hecla likes a good challenge.

Great Plains Lutheran is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Tri-State co-op [Rosholt/Fairmount/Campbell-Tintah]: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Great Plains Lutheran blew Tri-State co-op [Rosholt/Fairmount/Campbell-Tintah] out of the water with a 64-23 final score. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Panthers had established a 37 point advantage.

Great Plains Lutheran's win back in December of 2024 was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Abby Kjenstad, who went 10 for 18 on her way to 23 points. The dominant performance gave Kjenstad a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katherine Prahl, who went 5 of 7 en route to 10 points along with eight assists and three steals.

Meanwhile, Britton-Hecla hadn't done well against Redfield recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Britton-Hecla walked away with a 36-26 victory over Redfield. The win was some much needed relief for the Braves as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Britton-Hecla's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Great Plains Lutheran, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Great Plains Lutheran strolled past Britton-Hecla when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a score of 45-27. The rematch might be a little tougher for Great Plains Lutheran since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
