After a string of six wins, the Wayne Preparatory Academy Generals's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 50-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Riverside Christian Academy. Wayne Preparatory Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Royals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2021.
D'Asiah Lassiter and Onisty Jones certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Lassiter scored 15 points, while Jones scored 12 points. Lassiter is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Riverside Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Paris Autry, who scored 18 points along with four steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Autry has scored at least a third of Riverside Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Unique Cooke, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Wayne Preparatory Academy's loss dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Riverside Christian Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-1.
Wayne Preparatory Academy will head out on the road to take on the Holy Rams at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Word of God Christian Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Riverside Christian Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd. American Leadership Academy-Johnston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 545th, while the Royals are ranked 160th).
