McMichael has gone a perfect 10-0 against Walkertown recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Phoenix will head out on the road to take on the Wolfpack at 6:00 p.m. McMichael is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
McMichael had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Bartlett Yancey on Friday. The Phoenix blew past the Buccaneers 15-0. The Phoenix might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.
Mack Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.
In other batting news, Lindsay Redmon was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
McMichael kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Walkertown was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They came up short against Northwest Guilford, falling 7-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wolfpack have suffered since March 25, 2025.
Sadie Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Walkertown's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for McMichael, their record is now 6-0.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. McMichael has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .507. However, it's not like Walkertown struggles in that department as they've averaged .446. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
McMichael came out on top in a nail-biter against Walkertown when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Phoenix since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
