Vasquez is 2-8 against Trinity Classical Academy since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Vasquez Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Trinity Classical Academy Knights at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Vasquez posted their biggest win since November 30, 2023 on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 71-15 victory over Lancaster Baptist on the road. Vasquez pushed the score to 63-6 by the end of the third, a deficit Lancaster Baptist cut but never quite recovered from.
Vasquez can attribute much of their success to Adam Wyganowski, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wyganowski has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Oliver Gates, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Trinity Classical Academy had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.2 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They blew past Fillmore, posting a 84-51 victory at home. Trinity Classical Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 20 points or more this season.
Vasquez's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.4 points per game. As for Trinity Classical Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.
Vasquez beat Trinity Classical Academy 79-71 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vasquez since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
