Nikko Juarez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 165 yards and four TDs on only eight carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in September of 2024. Owen Gully was another key player, throwing for 191 yards and three touchdowns on perfect 7-for-7 passing.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Manteca was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 264 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 170 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, East Union entered their matchup against Central Catholic on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Lancers were outmatched by the Raiders and fell 61-29. The Lancers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.
Manteca will have to contain Jackson Fay as he made an impact in East Union's last game. He rushed for 113 yards and a pair of scores on only nine carries, and also picked up 41 receiving yards. Jp Abrew got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.
East Union's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Manteca, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Manteca has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 215.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like East Union struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 240.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Manteca against East Union in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 49-0 win. Will the Buffaloes repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
