The Port Washington Pirates will be playing at home against the Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Port Washington is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They claimed a resounding 50-8 win over Washington/Fuller Collegiate Academy. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin football rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Purgolders are ranked 343rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Whitefish Bay's strategy against New Berlin West on Friday. The Blue Dukes blew past the Vikings 31-7. The matchup was close at halftime, but the Blue Dukes turned on the heat in the second half with 21 points.
Port Washington better keep an eye on Lateef Love. He was instrumental in Whitefish Bay's win, rushing for 217 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. They are 3-1 when Love posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-5 otherwise.
Whitefish Bay was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 291 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive games.
One reason for the win was Whitefish Bay's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Kaben Ziegler, Kellen Busalacchi, and Tosin Kolawole, who each picked up one sack apiece.
The victory (which was Port Washington's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.8 points over those games. As for Whitefish Bay, their record is now 4-6.
Port Washington didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Whitefish Bay when the teams last played back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 27-21 victory. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Blue Dukes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
