Archbishop McCarthy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They walked away with an 86-79 victory over Treasure Coast. Given Archbishop McCarthy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Treasure Coast is ranked 228th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Archbishop McCarthy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Enrique Duboy, who scored 22 points along with three steals. The matchup was Duboy's seventh in a row with at least ten points. George Sterr was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Westwood had to suffer through a rough 82-51 loss at the hands of Centennial. Westwood was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-21.
Archbishop McCarthy's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Westwood, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.
Archbishop McCarthy came up short against Westwood in their previous matchup back in January of 2020, falling 57-50. Can Archbishop McCarthy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
