It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Western Wildcats had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They breezed by Cypress Bay at home to the tune of 51-0. Considering Western has won six contests by more than 19 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Davi Belfort continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 204 yards and two touchdowns on only 19 passes. Another big playmaker for Western was Koby Howard, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
The victory was the fifth in a row for Western, bringing their record for this year to 8-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.4 points per game. As for Cypress Bay, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3.
Western will head out on the road to face off against Palmetto at 7:30 p.m. on November 17th. Palmetto is on a five-game streak of home wins, Western a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Cypress Bay does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
