Given Magna Vista's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Martinsville is ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Martinsville had strong showings from Yoshi Moyer, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and three blocks, and Aniya Torrence, who scored three points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Moyer hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for six straight games.
Magna Vista is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Martinsville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13.
Magna Vista will head out on the road to challenge Halifax County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Magna Vista is coming into the contest with three straight victories on the road, so Halifax County is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Martinsville, they will challenge George Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Martinsville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 38 on Tuesday.
