1A Western Slope recap November 19, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 1A Western Slope this week, Paonia beat Buena Vista 28-14. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Eagles.
Paonia made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,708 from 4,385. The advance stemmed from a 28-14 victory over the Demons last week.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Cedaredge's Trent Walker and Kyle Ward have proven to be a lethal combination. Walker has thrown for 1,218 yards this season, while Ward has 50 catches for 747 yards. Brent McRae's team's Taylor Walters leads the league in rushing yards with 1,813.
Alex Smith has rushed for 914 yards on 133 carries so far this year.
The Eagles led the league in scoring this week after putting up 28 points on Buena Vista. Will Austin ran for 252 yards during the win.
