The Pleasantville Panthers and the Rye Garnets squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Pleasantville Panthers had to settle for second. Pleasantville lost to Rye on the road by a decisive 35-20 margin. Pleasantville's loss signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Pleasantville had strong showings from Aiden Picart, who threw for 188 yards and a touchdown, and Daniel Picart, who gained 135 total yards and two touchdowns.
It was another big night for Chris Iuliano, who rushed for 215 yards and three touchdowns. Iuliano has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played.
Pleasantville's loss dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Rye, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Pleasantville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Rye will face off against Port Jervis at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Port Jervis will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Rye is ranked 26th).
