Immaculate has gone 8-2 against Pomperaug recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Mustangs will venture away from home to challenge the Panthers at 4:15 p.m. The last three games Immaculate has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Immaculate took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Weston, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs won by a run and slipped past the Trojans 4-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Kevin Hickey was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run. That run marked the first that he has scored this season.

Meanwhile, Pomperaug suffered their closest defeat since May 29, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Naugatuck by a score of 6-4.

Kyle Bisceglia was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Pomperaug saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Schussler, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Zach Johnson was another, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.

Immaculate's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pomperaug, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Immaculate took their victory against Pomperaug in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
