Baseball Recap: Trezevant Extends Winning Streak to Three

Trezevant had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They skirted past the KIPP Collegiate phoenix 7-5. This was payback for the Bears, who suffered a 10-8 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Zavion Evans was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Rickey Wright was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Trezevant always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .652. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .556 or higher in seven consecutive contests.

Trezevant's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for KIPP Collegiate, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

The future could be bright for both Trezevant and KIPP Collegiate: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Bears will look to extend Memphis East's seven-game losing streak when they meet at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, KIPP Collegiate will try to hand Douglass their fifth-straight loss when the two meet at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
