Lexington came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 65-55 victory over the Heyworth Hornets. Given the Minutemen's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while the Hornets are ranked 409th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Lexington to victory were Blaine Friedmansky and Micah Coffman. Friedmansky went 6 for 12 on his way to 22 points, while Coffman went 6 of 14 en route to 17 points. Joe Cheever was another key player, putting up six points and six rebounds.

Lexington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. As for Heyworth, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Lexington will take on Ridgeview at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Heyworth, they will be taking part in a tournament against Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
