Lumberton has gone a perfect 9-0 against Ashley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Pirates will look to defend their home field against the Screaming Eagle at 6:00 p.m.
After dropping their season opener at home, Ashley is headed out to face a Pirates squad ready to give their home crowd a win. Lumberton took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hoggard on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Pirates in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost three in a row.
Jaelyn Hammond led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Hanna, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Ashley never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Southwest Onslow on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Stallions 14-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Screaming Eagle have posted since March 14, 2025.
Saylor Cross was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Cross was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ashley got a massive performance out of Laina Toudle, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. What's more, Toudle posted two runs, the most she's had since back in March of 2025. Skyler Horrell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Ashley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwest Onslow only posted a batting average of .242.
Lumberton beat Ashley 11-7 in their previous matchup back in March of 2025. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Screaming Eagle have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
