The Bishop Gorman Gaels came tearing into Wednesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Skyline by a score of 53-45. Given Bishop Gorman's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked second in Nevada, while Skyline is ranked 123rd in Texas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bishop Gorman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aaliah Spaight led the charge by scoring nine points along with ten rebounds and eight assists. Those eight assists set a new season-high mark for her. Kenzee Holton was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Bishop Gorman's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Skyline, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10.
Bishop Gorman is on the road again on Thursday and play against Westlake at 1:30 p.m. on December 28th. Skyline won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Liberty at 9:00 a.m. on December 28th. Hopefully Liberty focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Thursday.
