Kirtland Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Devin Ramone led the charge by scoring 14 points along with two steals. Osai Garcia was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Aztec pushed their score all the way to 61 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Shiprock 65-61. Aztec has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kirtland Central has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season. As for Aztec, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season.
Kirtland Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Aztec when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 59-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kirtland Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
