The Wilcox Central Jaguars''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 45-28 to Orange Beach. Wilcox Central lost against Orange Beach in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 48-0 score last time.
Wilcox Central's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Javion Pettway, who rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, and Orlando Jackson who threw for 180 yards and two touchdowns. Pettway was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 69 yards.
Wilcox Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Orange Beach, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 1-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilcox Central will take on Jackson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jackson knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Wilcox Central likes a good challenge. As for Orange Beach, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Escambia County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Escambia County is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
