Meanwhile, South Grand Prairie entered their tilt with Grand Prairie on Tuesday with ten consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 11. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Gophers. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Jernie Nerio made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run.
In other batting news, South Grand Prairie let Alyssa Huynh and Adriana Mountcastle run wild. The team also got some help courtesy of Jade Evans, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
South Grand Prairie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
South Grand Prairie pushed their record up to 15-8-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Haltom, their record now sits at 7-14.
Haltom couldn't quite get it done against South Grand Prairie when the teams last played back in March as they fell 4-1. Can the Buffalos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
