Seminole Ridge hasn't had much luck against Wellington recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Hawks will venture away from home to face off against the Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. Seminole Ridge will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Last Tuesday, Seminole Ridge made easy work of Dr. Joaquin Garcia and carried off a 13-4 victory.
Seminole Ridge got a great performance from Zarah Lee as she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits.
At the plate, Cameron Moro was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Haven Berryhill, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Seminole Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Wellington faced Doral Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Wolverines fell just short of the Firebirds by a score of 2-1.
Wellington saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabby D'Arcangelo, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Seminole Ridge's record is now 6-10. As for Wellington, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Seminole Ridge has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Wellington struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Seminole Ridge couldn't quite finish off Wellington in their previous meeting back in March and fell 3-1. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
