Softball Game Preview: Glencoe Crimson Tide vs. Sherwood Bowmen

Glencoe is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Sherwood is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Crimson Tide will welcome the Bowmen at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Glencoe 2.7, Sherwood 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Glencoe is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Oregon's top teams: McMinnville, who was ranked fourth at the time (Glencoe was ranked 19th). The Crimson Tide came out on top against the Grizzlies by a score of 10-7 on Wednesday. Ten seems to be a good number for the Crimson Tide as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Allison Glaze was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Irene Vandyke, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Glencoe lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Sherwood owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Century. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Sherwood's win bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Glencoe, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Glencoe suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Sherwood in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Crimson Tide avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
