The Wayne County Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 21 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Providence School with a sharp 56-35 win on Friday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Wayne County's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 67th in Tennessee, while Providence School is ranked 19th in Florida).
Providence School's loss came despite strong showings from Julianna Baskin and Kennedy Loux. Baskin scored 16 points along with four steals, while Loux scored eight points along with three steals. The match was Baskin's ninth in a row with at least ten points.
Wayne County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Providence School, their loss dropped their record down to 14-2.
Wayne County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Loretto at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Loretto is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 11 games. As for Providence School, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Chiles at 6:30 p.m.
