Basketball Recap: Makayla Moore and Rihanna Wallace Secure Win for Dorman

On Friday, the Dorman Cavaliers were able to grind out a solid victory over the Monroe Golden Tornadoes, taking the game 62-52.

Leading Dorman to victory were Rihanna Wallace and Makayla Moore. Wallace posted ten points along with six assists and six steals, while Moore went 8 of 18 en route to 20 points and five assists. With that strong performance, Wallace is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan White, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 10 points and five rebounds.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Dorman was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why Monroe lost, don't look at Kie'Aundria Acree. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 24 points and 15 boards. Acree has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 43 times she's played. Taylor Mckinzy was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Dorman now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Monroe, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dorman and Norcross will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. As for Monroe, they will face off against Dougherty at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
