Richmond walked away with a 50-39 victory over Harrison. Given Richmond's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Harrison is ranked 97th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Richmond to victory were Mason Carpenter and Julien Smith. Carpenter scored 14 points, while Smith scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ryder Cate, who scored eight points.
Harrison's loss came despite strong showings from Ray Gibson and Ben Slate. Gibson scored 14 points along with two steals, while Slate scored 12 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Richmond and bumps their season record up to 18-1. As for Harrison, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richmond will face off against Anderson at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Anderson will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Harrison, they will head out on the road to face off against Logansport at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Logansport is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
