South has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Walnut Ridge Scots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, South strolled past the Bruins with points to spare, taking the game 66-51. Given South's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Bruins are ranked 592nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lajames Washington out in front who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Gavin Griffin, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Walnut Ridge put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 87-65 margin over Marion-Franklin.
South has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Walnut Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
South didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Scots when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 52-46 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Walnut Ridge's Dominique Aekins, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
