The Calvert Cavaliers will be playing at home against the Great Mills Hornets at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Calvert is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
Calvert's 18-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 32-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chopticon on Monday.
Despite the defeat, Calvert saw an underclassman step up: Brooke Kidwell dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. Kidwell's trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for three games straight.
Meanwhile, Great Mills' three-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They walked away with a 56-43 victory over Northern. The win was just what Great Mills needed coming off of a 60-28 defeat in their prior game.
Calvert's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-11. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.0 points per game. As for Great Mills, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
Calvert was able to grind out a solid win over Great Mills in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 36-29. Does Calvert have another victory up their sleeve, or will Great Mills turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
