Wayne have been homebodies their last two matches, but they are heading out on Friday. They take on North Mahaska at 7:00 PM. Wayne don't have the home-field advantage, but they do enjoy an advantage in the MaxPreps rankings.
After a disappointing 0 points in their last contest, Wayne made sure to put some points up on the board against Grandview Park Baptist last Friday. Wayne managed a somewhat close 43-37 victory over Grandview Park Baptist. Junior Chasen Kiefer was the offensive standout of the match for Wayne, as he rushed for 369 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Meanwhile, North Mahaska have had to suffer through a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Martensdale-St. Mary's with a sharp 34-12 win. North Mahaska were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
Their wins bumped North Mahaska to 1-5 and Wayne to 3-3. The Wayne defense got after the quarterback against Grandview Park Baptist to the tune of four sacks, so North Mahaska's offensive line better have put in some good practice this past week in preparation for the matchup.
