Istrouma is 0-4 against Plaquemine since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Istrouma Indians will head out on the road to take on the Plaquemine Green Devils at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Istrouma focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
In what's become a running theme this season, Istrouma gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past Broadmoor 51-17 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Istrouma has posted since December 27, 2023.
Istrouma relied on the efforts of A'tiona Augustus, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and six steals, and Eryn Brown, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it 22 consecutive games in which Brown has scored at least a third of Istrouma's points.
Meanwhile, Plaquemine scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Tara on the road to the tune of 64-21. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-13.
It was another big night for Maddison Mitchell, who scored 15 points along with nine steals and six assists. Comora Davis was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and five assists.
The victory makes it two in a row for Istrouma and bumps their season record up to 13-9. As for Plaquemine, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's match: Istrouma have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 37.3% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Plaquemine, though, as they've only made 25.6% of their threes per game this season. Given Istrouma's sizeable advantage in that area, Plaquemine will need to find a way to close that gap.
Istrouma was dealt a bruising 62-23 loss at the hands of Plaquemine in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Istrouma avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
