After flying high against the Polk County Wolverines last Friday, the East Rutherford Cavaliers came back down to earth. East Rutherford took a 72-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brevard on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, East Rutherford had strong showings from Dacen "pop" Petty, who scored 27 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, and Eno Baker, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Baker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Adkins, who scored eight points.
Eli Griffin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Brevard, scoring 36 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Griffin posted two or more blocks. Tre Crite was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
East Rutherford's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9. As for Brevard, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.
East Rutherford will head out on the road to square off against Chase at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chase comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Brevard, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against R-S Central at 7:30 p.m.
