Hitchcock-Tulare had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Redfield Pheasants. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Patriots also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.
Hitchcock-Tulare got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 26-24, 21-25, 30-28.
Cora Hofer paced Hitchcock-Tulare's offense, picking up 14 kills. Hofer got some help from Gracyn Bixler and her 33 assists. Olivia Knox controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Several Pheasants players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Katryn Evans, who had 28 digs. Evans is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 18 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Hardie, who had 20 digs and ten assists.
This is the second loss in a row for Redfield and nudges their season record down to 1-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hitchcock-Tulare will take on James Valley Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Redfield, they will head out to take on Deuel at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
