The Gordon-Rushville Mustangs struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (the Alliance Bulldogs had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Gordon-Rushville took a 46-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Alliance. It was the first time this season that Gordon-Rushville let down their fans at home.
Loss or not, Gordon-Rushville got some senior leadership from Haley Johnson and Mckinley Grover. Johnson scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Grover. scored ten points along with nine rebounds and two steals. That was a full 48.6% of Gordon-Rushville's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
It was another big night for Jaelynne Clarke, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals for Alliance. Clarke hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Addison Weber was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Gordon-Rushville's defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-4. As for Alliance, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
Gordon-Rushville will head out on the road to challenge Mullen at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Mullen will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Gordon-Rushville is ranked 86th). As for Alliance, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ogallala at 5:05 p.m. on Friday.
