The North Sevier Wolves will take on the Timpview Thunderbirds at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. North Sevier is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
North Sevier took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Piute as they made off with a 17-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wolves considering their one-run performance the game before.
Chloe Malmgren made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. Malmgren was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Taylor, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Dally Wasden, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Timpview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 21st straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 14-1 to Maple Mountain.
Halia Aumua was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base.
North Sevier's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-12. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.3 runs over those games. As for Timpview, their loss dropped their record down to 0-14.
Timpview's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: North Sevier has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .475.
