Everything came up roses for St. James against Haynes Academy on Thursday as the team secured a 43-7 victory. Followers of St. James probably expected little less of the squad in a season in which they have collected three blowout victories.
St. James' offense rushed out of the gates and came up with 36 first-half points. Meanwhile, Haynes Academy couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 36-0 heading into the break. The St. James defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 0 and all but finishing the contest. The win bumped St. James' record up to 5-2. Haynes Academy are on a three-game losing streak that has brought their record down to 1-6.
Both teams are staying within the conference for their upcoming matches. Next week St. James take on De La Salle at 7:00 PM. Since neither squad is a stranger to landslide victories this season, you'd better bet it will be hard-fought showdown. As for Haynes Academy, they will face off against St. Charles Catholic.
