The Prospect Ridge Academy Miners's game last Wednesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They strolled past Regis Groff with points to spare, taking the game 64-49. Given Prospect Ridge Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Fusion are ranked 279th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Prospect Ridge Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Travis Agbosse out in front who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Jackson Brandt, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds.
Several Fusion players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mahmoud Ibrahim, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Davonte Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Prospect Ridge Academy now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Regis Groff, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Prospect Ridge Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Eagle Ridge Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Regis Groff, they will be playing at home against the Nighthawks at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Northfield knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 15 games -- so hopefully the Fusion likes a good challenge.
