The Bound Brook Crusaders just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Phillipsburg Stateliners at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. Bound Brook knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Phillipsburg likes a good challenge.
Bound Brook pushed their score all the way to 62 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The game between them and Hoboken wasn't particularly close, with Bound Brook falling 76-62.
Meanwhile, Phillipsburg came tearing into Tuesday's contest with 18 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Bridgewater-Raritan by a score of 59-52. Given Phillipsburg's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Bridgewater-Raritan is ranked 154th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Matthew Scerbo jr. continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals. He hasn't dropped below 17 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ameer Herran, who scored 11 points.
Bound Brook's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Phillipsburg, they pushed their record up to 19-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Bound Brook couldn't quite finish off Phillipsburg when the teams last played on Thursday and fell 69-66. Can Bound Brook avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
