The Le Roy Oatkan Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Pavilion Golden Gophers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Le Roy is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in New York (they are ranked 156th, while Pavilion is ranked 581st).
Last Tuesday, Le Roy ended up a good deal behind Warsaw and lost 67-49. Le Roy was down 54-34 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the defeat, Le Roy got a solid performance out of Jean Agosto, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Merritt Holly Jr., who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Pavilion had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top against Caledonia-Mumford by a score of 62-51.
Le Roy's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4. As for Pavilion, they pushed their record up to 6-8 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Le Roy against Pavilion in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 66-36 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Le Roy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
