The East Jessamine Jaguars will head out to challenge the Garrard County Golden Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Garrard County took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on East Jessamine, who comes in off a win.
East Jessamine was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Mercer County on Tuesday. The Jaguars put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 12-1 win. The Jaguars not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 13-0).

Remie Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Alex Smith was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Lily Kate Dugger also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
East Jessamine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mercer County only posted a batting average of .250.
Wayne County hit Garrard County with a six-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Golden Lions lost 14-3 to the Cardinals.
Garrard County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Hounshell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another was Riley Murphy, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
East Jessamine's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 15-17. As for Garrard County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. East Jessamine hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .334. However, it's not like Garrard County struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
East Jessamine took their win against Garrard County in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
