The Padua Franciscan Bruins lost against the Walsh Jesuit Warriors last Wednesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Padua Franciscan took a 43-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Walsh Jesuit. While losing is never fun, Padua Franciscan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 551st, while Walsh Jesuit is ranked 275th).
Padua Franciscan's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashley Rypiak, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Rypiak. Ella Figliano was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Padua Franciscan's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-4. As for Walsh Jesuit, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.
Padua Franciscan will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against St. Joseph Academy at 1:00 p.m. on December 16th. As for Walsh Jesuit, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Villa Angela-St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Villa Angela-St. Joseph focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Saturday.
