Softball Recap: Lynn Classical Has No Trouble Against Somerville

Lynn Classical won the last time they faced Somerville and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Rams blew past the Highlanders 18-6. Considering the Rams have won seven matchups by more than ten runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brooke Braswell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Braswell was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lynn Classical got a massive performance out of Mia Duncan, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Duncan a new career-high. Emma Chevalier was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Lynn Classical always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Lynn Classical has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Somerville, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Coming up, Lynn Classical will take on Melrose at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Somerville, they will square off against Waltham at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.77 runs per game on average), something the Highlanders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
