Barringer barely beat Science Park the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blue Bears put the hurt on the Chargers with a sharp 18-5 win on Thursday. Considering the Blue Bears have won six matchups by more than ten runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Genesis Alvarez made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Alvarez was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Ciara Encarnacion was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Myla Paez, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Barringer pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.4 runs over those games. As for Science Park, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Barringer will venture away from home to face off against Arts at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
