Hurricane and Snow Canyon are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2021, but not for long. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
On Tuesday, Hurricane didn't have quite enough to beat Dixie and fell 3-2. While the Tigers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Flyers 25-18 in the first set.
Hurricane started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 17-25, 25-18, 25-20, 15-7.
Meanwhile, Snow Canyon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 3-1 to Dixie.
Snow Canyon was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Dixie work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-18, 20-25, 25-23.
Hurricane will have to keep a close watch on Carleigh Spafford and Tali Tupe, a pair of players who had a big impact on Snow Canyon's prior game. Spafford had ten digs and two assists, while Tupe had 14 kills and 11 digs. Tupe is crushing it when it comes to kills: she's had at least six every time she's taken the court this season.
Snow Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Hurricane, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Hurricane has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.5 aces per game. However, it's not like Snow Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
