The Bertrand Vikings lost to the Southwest Roughriders back in January of 2023, but the Bertrand Vikings didn't allow the Southwest Roughriders the same satisfaction on Friday. Bertrand walked away with a 47-40 victory over Southwest.
Thunder Nelson was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Scott Bieker, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, Southwest still got an impressive performance from Houston Billeter, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Billeter hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Nathan Rippe, who scored five points along with three steals.
Bertrand has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. As for Southwest, they bumped their record down to 4-9 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Bertrand will take on Overton at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Overton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Saturday. As for Southwest, they will head out on the road to face off against Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] on Saturday. Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
