The Franklin Flyers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 11th straight loss. They took a 33-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Heartland Lutheran.
Franklin lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Audra Goosic, who scored three points along with five steals. Allison Boettcher was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Franklin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heartland Lutheran only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Leading Heartland Lutheran to victory were Brielle Saddler and Ella Francl. Saddler scored ten points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Francl scored 11 points along with four steals. Francl hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ema Koch, who scored five points.
Franklin's defeat was their eighth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-12. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.3 points per game. As for Heartland Lutheran, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin will take on Loomis at TBD on Tuesday. Loomis is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Heartland Lutheran, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Red Cloud at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
