The Altamonte Christian Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Crooms Academy Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Altamonte Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Altamonte Christian made easy work of Halifax Academy and carried off an 18-10 win. That eight-run margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.
TJ Wood Jr. made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs but no hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. He also got a hit, marking his first of the season.
Altamonte Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .612. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Halifax Academy only posted an OBP of .295.
Meanwhile, Crooms Academy can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over Circle Christian.
Like Altamonte Christian, Crooms Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Aiden Marcialis. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Marcialis was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Crooms Academy is 3-1 when Marcialis posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caden Bachand, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Altamonte Christian's record is now 4-5. As for Crooms Academy, their record now sits at 4-6.
Altamonte Christian suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Crooms Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
