On Tuesday, things could have been worse for Sequoia Charter, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-44 loss to Heritage Academy Gateway. While losing is never fun, Sequoia Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Heritage Academy Gateway is ranked 44th).
Among those leading the charge was Landon Johnston, who scored 17 points along with four steals. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points. Bo Dalton was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Sequoia Charter has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Heritage Academy Gateway, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Sequoia Charter will head out on the road to face off against Canyon State Academy at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Heritage Academy Gateway won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mission Heights Prep at 5:00 p.m. on January 10th. One thing working in Mission Heights Prep's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
