After flying high against the Florence Buffaloes last Friday, The Elkhart Elks came back down to earth. Elkhart fell to Clifton 22-16. Elkhart lost against Clifton in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 49-14 score last time.
Elkhart's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Denney, who rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. Denney's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Trystyn Tidrow was another key contributor, throwing for 205 yards and a touchdown.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clifton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joaquin De la Hoya, who rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Tunnell, who rushed for 139 yards.
Elkhart has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Clifton, their win bumped their record up to 5-5.
Elkhart will head out on the road to face off against Rogers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rogers will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Clifton, they will be playing at home against Florence on Friday. Florence comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
